Mexico City- El Huequito

I recently visited Mexico City since the tickets were cheap flying out of Houston. We had a variety of meals including snacks from various markets. However, because I was so focused on eating my fresh fruits, I did not take any photos. Sometimes, it is best to be in the moment! But they sell fresh coconut and take out the coconut flesh for you to eat after they sprinkle on some Tanjin. It was delicious and I love how cheap the exotic fruits (dragon fruit, rambutan, varieties of mangoes and pomegranate) are!

But who goes to Mexico City without eating Al Pastor tacos and meat?

A fellow airbnb-er recommended us to go to El Huequito. On our 1st try we found the El Huequito stand and fell in love with it. The salsa was amazing! On our 2nd try we found the actual restaurant and ordered a feast! The décor and service was wonderful. Basically you get American comfort with Mexican quality food.

I ordered the mango margarita which the waiter made at the table. Real mango puree was used as well as two shots of tequila and I want to say Petron but I was too hungry to remember. I was pretty buzzed after just 1 drink.

For food, I got the stuffed cheese Al Pastor taco. If you are a cheese lover, I highly recommend ordering this!

My boyfriend ordered an Argentinean Steak and got corn tortilla to go with it.

He ordered a Michelada, basically a Bloody Mary mixed with beer. A very traditional Mexican drink, and he enjoyed it very much!

This was just one of our favorite eating experiences during our 4 days trip! Let us know if you have a favorite in this city so we can visit when we go back next time!
