Wearing Colour - Red

Red is a statement colour, sometimes it's sexy, sometimes it's playful, sometimes it's elegent, and it's always bold. A red dress is as classic as a little black dress, but less often referenced. Where the black dress is understated in its elegance, the red dress is eye-catching.

Red, however, is a harder colour to pull off. The shade, the material, and the fit are more noticeable in garments that are in vibrant or lighter colours. When picking a red item, it's important to look at the tone of the red. Much like a lipstick, if you have warm undertones, a red with orange tones will be more flattering. While if you have cooler undertones, a blue-toned red will suit better. Red can look cheap easily, so when shopping for clothing in this colour, it's best to do so in store where you can check the shade against yourself, as well as judge the material.

For those of you like me, who shy away from wearing bold colours, accessories are a great way to wear red. I adore red shoes, they add a pop to every outfit. My favourites at the moment are a classic pair of Keds, which I pair with just about everything. Whether it's a jeans and t-shirt day, or a white summery dress. Speaking of summery, my RayBan's are another favourite for adding a little kick of red.
